Hello, I recently received an e-mail from a service member who was serving our country in the Middle East. He mentioned that our chimney technicians serviced his chimney back home and recommended some repairs and knew our company had various coupons in some of the local telephone books. Being half way across the world, he did not have physical access to these telephone books.
The thought of him being so far away from family, friends and his home was very troubling to me. Sometimes we forget what people are doing for us while we sleep in our warm beds at night. The fact of the matter is that our military is what has made our country free to worship God, travel, work any job or even not work. Anyone of us can pick up and roam freely throughout our country, no borders, no police hassle, no problems. We have freedom of speech and can grow up and do anything our dreams can take us. These rights and freedoms are protected by a group of brave individuals which make up our United States military. They have been asked to do one thing and that is to protect these wonderful freedoms so that all Americans can enjoy these rights.
Bravery is not something that everyone is gifted with. Not many Americans have jobs they go to everyday that the objective is to stay alive. The stress our soldiers are under must be enormous. The unfortunate fact is that these missions must be performed by somebody. Those somebodies must be very brave souls and I would like to thank all of these service members for taking the place of me. If it wasn't for you actions, we would not be free to have the wonderful lives that we live.
As far as the original service member who sent me the e-mail. I am glad to say that he came home today. He is back home and is in the loving arms of his family and friends. My company has decided that all our military heroes will receive double honor on any coupons they find. I encourage my fellow chimney professional to also follow in turn.
If there are any military people who happen to read this, give us a shout. We would love to say hello and express just how thankful we really are. Here is a group photo of the service member who has returned from duty.

I just wanted to say Thank you too there are not many people who thinking about the men and women serving in our military. I have family, friends, as well as husband and myself are active duty we are lucky enough to be station in the states and together right now. I have an uncle that is shipping out to Iraq soon and a cousin he has a 3yo little girl and another one getting ready to be born with in weeks and he is going back for I think the 5th time. Thank you again for posting its really nice to know and hear that there are people out there thinking of everyone the service member as well as the family and friends left behind to keep things going. I remember once when my dad was out in the middle of the atlantic (well thats where they told us) that sometimes its a harder job to be the ones left here then the being the one gone. I think they both are really hard sometimes. But again Thank you for posting and giving the discounts to military that you do. The Military doesn't get paid what we should but we get by... Thank you again so much for your support of our military. ~Brandi~ OS3 USCG (Active Duty)

Brandi, Thank you! You are the hero. A Step in Time understands the work our military is doing. Just the time away, the fear of losing your life everyday, everything they do. They do it for their country, the United States of America. All the people, children, parents, grand parents, sports players, everyone. The life we have is paid by their work. It's nice to be thankful, so again, thank you. Ray

To all the brave souls, Needless to say, the crew at A Step in Time honors your courage. As with all wars, we wish you were back home with us. Hold your head up and know that all of us are very proud of every second you are away from your loved ones. If you have someone far away, post a message for them here. Even if that someone special does not see it, there are many who will. They will know how you feel and there are many of us who feel this way. A Step in Time
